THE Y FOR

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

Preschool

Welcome to the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Preschool. Our Preschool is licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing. We offer quality care and the excellent standards of the YMCA.

The first five years in your child’s life are the most formative ones in his/her entire development. We hope that your family, and especially your children, can feel at home in our center. We assure you that our nurturing, friendly staff will make your time here an experience to remember.

PRESCHOOL CAMPS

The YMCA Preschool Camp Program is designed for children ages 3 to 5 years and (children who have not yet entered kindergarten) and who are potty trained.

Our very own Early Childhood educated and experienced staff maintain a commitment to provide opportunities for your child to experience a fun-filled week. Your child will learn through hands on experience and meet new friends.

Our camps maintain a ratio of 2 teachers to 15 children with a maximum of 15 children per camp.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on Piaget’s developmental theories. We encourage your child to explore, ask questions, to be creative, and to make choices and decisions. We offer an environment in which your child feels secure to practice social skills and to learn to solve conflicts constructively.

Curriculum includes the following areas:

  • Language Development
  • Music/Movement
  • Sensory Play
  • Dramatic Play
  • Science & Discovery
  • Creative Experience
  • Fine Moor Skills
  • Gross Motor Skills

Additional Events

  • School Pictures
  • Seasonal Festivals
  • End of the Year Pre-K Ceremony
  • Look for other special events at the individual school sites in your parent handbook.

YMCA Character Development

The Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA participates in the Character Development program, which focuses on four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Learning each of these values is vital to the growth and development of children. These values will be incorporated into various planned activities, as well as using teachable moments that the children so often provide.
