Roof Raisers YMCA

Roof Raisers History

Roof Raisers was founded in 1971 by Rollie Ayers, Paul Ecke, Jr., Ed Harloff, Don Hubbard, Sr., and Irv Roston to raise funds to complete our then-new YMCA. The five event founders masterminded this men's fund-raising event to put a roof on the Multi-Purpose Room… and Roof Raisers was born.

Over the past 37 years, over $3,400,000 has been raised through Roof Raisers! Many new roofs have been built, including the pool enclosure and a spectacular 22,000 sq. ft. expansion. Roof Raisers has also allowed the YMCA to build "indoor" soccer arenas, to purchase vans to transport children to childcare at the YMCA and to acquire program equipment for various YMCA programs.

Funds raised at Roof Raisers are used to improve the lives of thousands of North County families. Roof Raisers is an event benefiting the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. To meet the community's growing need for recreational, competitive and therapeutic aquatic programs, the YMCA's existing 40-year-old Aquatic Center has been expanded and renovated. This state-of-the-art center features a warm water instructional and activity pool, a cool water competitive pool, renovated youth and family changing rooms and an interactive splash pad to bring safe and fun entertainment to children.

Beneficiaries

Roof Raisers is an event benefitting the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, and funds raised are used to improve the lives of thousands of North County children, families and seniors. To meet the community’s growing needs for facilities of health, wellness, development, recreation and enrichment, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA is partnering with the generous support of Roof Raisers to build and renovate the existing 50-year-old Preschool. The new Preschool will feature 9 classrooms with sensory learning features and design helping to shape the youth of our future.
