MIDDLE SCHOOL

After-School Program for Teens

teens

Available at Aviara Oaks Middle School

Our program offers a highly structured and dynamic experience for your middle-school-age child. It is our goal to offer a fun and safe environment that allows participants to develop both academically and socially.

Our program components consist of leadership development, personal growth, service learning and social development. We help all teens to grow personally by gaining a greater sense of their worth, improve personal relationships and appreciate diversity.

The program starts each day with an after-school snack, followed by an emphasis on academics through daily tutoring sessions and homework time facilitated by college students in our community. The staff assists in 100-percent completion of all assignments, and will assist in developing study skills that will help your child in high school and beyond.

Participants will also engage in character building games, sports, art projects and team building activities As with all YMCA programs, all of our activities center on our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Through the use of guest instructors, service projects and monthly field trips to local entertainment centers our program is designed to help your child become better role models, leaders and supporters within their community while having a lot of fun in the process.

We greatly understand and appreciate the trust that is involved in allowing us to supervise your children. In all of our activities, safety is a priority. Our sign in/out procedures (the pick-up person must show a photo ID) ensure that parents are aware of and approve of their child leaving the program with anyone other than themselves. We have a no child left alone policy that ensures that your child stays within line of sight of our Program Staff at all times.

Our qualified staff have completed 24 hours of training in child abuse prevention policies and procedures, behavior management, and leadership training. In addition, they are CPR/First Aid certified. In all physical activities we maintain a pro-active stance on preventing risk before it happens. We see our commitment to safety as a daily and constant task.
